Our annual ‘Breakfast Club’ holiday get-together was a bit late this year due to schedule conflicts as well as some illness. Nevertheless, our potluck dinner was a success, largely gluten-free, but not without Manhattans.

In continuation of my holiday culinary adventures, I made some shrimp sushi bake cups, a variation on the popular sushi bakes. I also prepared more fruity, Christmassy pavlovas for my next-door neighbors.
A snow bomb cyclone descended upon much of the country overnight, plunging most of the Midwest in negative single-digit temps (negative double-digit wind chills!) and dumping tons of snow everywhere, more than enough to make everyone’s dreams of a white Christmas come true!

I made a simple-recipe cheesy, garlicky, and buttery bread wreath - a proper Christmas snack!

I took the online Briggs-Myers personality test and it turns out, I’m an Advocate (INFJ-A). Apparently, only about 2% of the population has this personality. A rare one, indeed. Here are the results:

Feasted on a lovely gift of nostalgia from my nephew that harks back to foodie trips to New York City: a holiday package from Katz’s Deli of their iconic pastrami and corned beef for homemade Reuben sandwiches. A yummy taste of NYC, indeed!

New LED light string I installed in the hot tub area is app-controlled and has a “Christmas” mode.

First batch of calamondin (or “calamansi”, Philippine lime) from the year-old tree I got earlier this summer. Perfect for a juice drink, or condiment for sauces and dips.

Among this past weekend’s tasks was setting up the Christmas trees (from The Modern Christmas Tree). Three years in a row now that they’ve gone up before Thanksgiving.
Setting up the Classic 8-ft
Setting up the tabletop 3-ft Jubilee.
Fresh, homemade, chocolatey treat from the automatic bread machine.

An initial stop on our Michigan Road Trip (see this Blog post) this past weekend was a lunch meeting with an old friend of ours, Del, a partner supplier whom we worked with closely on a previous work project. It was an overdue get-together after a few good years, and a good time to reminisce old times.
Eric, Ryan, and I at lunch with Del Costy at Cantoro’s Italian Market in Novi, MI.
Today’s good deed was an afternoon trip to the local Red Cross center to donate blood.
